Finished:Ferrari 275 NART Spider

This is the Italeri kit painted with 2 coats of Mica Blue over Light Blue, 3 coats clear and polished.

Not a great kit, bad chrome, sucky tyres, dash lacking detail, car looks too big...

I used tyres from Fujimi Daytona so I had to narrow the back half of the rims, I left the wipers off like some of the real ones, made up etched door locks from various etch parts, decided to leave the goofy back up light on, it's kind of quaint.

It's suppose to have quarter windows but they didn't fit up to the frame after I installed the windshield so I left them off. If I build another I will glue those in first, making sure the windscreen will fit, then BMF them after painting.

My favorite Ferrari. Steve McQueen ordered his in blue... from the factory.
I believe its the only 275 GTB and definitely the only NART in blue. love it, nice work

It's a great model, it's only when you put the new tires on they looks to puffy for the rims. You know what I mean. Especially on the back. But oberall it seems to be a great model.

Thanks!

Yes, I found some pics of Steve's 275, it doesn't have bumpers, I guess he was always more sporty that way.

I see what you mean, the tires do look a little 'puffy' in pics but in person they look fine. The camera lens is making it look odd.

Hi, nice model you built!

Is it 1:24 scale? I have one in 1:43 scale white metal kit by Tameo Kits but there are many parts missing. By the way I am thinking of painting it in deep solid blue and your pics provide invaluable reference (although the blue is not deep enough for what I have in mind).

well, there is no harm in reviving a thread which has no tendency to get outdated. This model is quite unique....

Just curious Dino, do you keep most of your models? How do you store them all? It'd be cool to get a picture of all of them together.

I think you also make models for other people, right?
