Jaguar XJ220

This kit was an Ertl. I'm not very experienced compared to some of you others so you might be able to give me some tips. Enjoy!

I once made a Revell kit of that car. It was exactly as that one. It was the first and the last I made.

The AMT/ERTL XJ220 is not bad, except for the rims and tires which are dreadful.

I had to be really careful fitting them together. Almost disfigured my rims a few times trying to apply some force!

Is it the same kit as the Italeri? (There I got a large breach in the extended front window section). Can't remember the wheels being problematic....

No, the Italeri is better than the AMT, moslty because it's more in scale....more difficult to build though.

the AMT kits aren't too great. they lack detail when compared against revell for example, the revell 53' corvette has much more detail than AMT's 53' corvette

You can't really judge by that, AMT's Vette mold could have been tooled years, even decades before Revell's.
