I remember posting about this around 3 years ago - So in that sense it's not really a repost. I won't mention the one that was posted more recently, thus making this a repost

Anyways, Pierre Scerri is incredible. He has more talent and patience than I can possibly imagine.

The link I posted way back in the day has since gone dead, but you can still access it though archive.org - here is the link

Here is Pierre's personal home page: http://mps-sportproto.com/fr/

now for the clever among us. The car is scaled down to 1/3 of the original car. What is the displacement of the scaled down flat 12? And please show your calculations

It would be interesting to see what kind of power it makes...

sure but have you calculated from what displacement that will come?

The model's engine has an actual displacement of 103cc, so it's not technically perfect. He's excused.

Long Way:

Real 312PB Bore x Stroke = 78.5 mm * 51.5 mm

So....

π x ((1/2)(1/3)(78.5mm))^2 x (1/3)(51.5mm) = 9231.51mm^3 per cylinder

9231.51mm^3 x 12 = 110778.1mm^3

= 110.8cc

Short Way:

2991cc / 27 = 110.8cc

that's what I wanted to see (so not 2991/3)...

When I first did the official calculation I forgot to square the 1/2 (so I got 444 cc....)

he says on the video being interviewed by Clarkson that it is 100 cc..so the thing may have more than 10 bhp...

That thing is just beyond cool. Especially since he cared about the project so much he learnt how to make things like glass and tyres

Like i said before, he whould put some servos on it and run it on a track, the only real problem would be the gearbox.

Unfortunatley we may never find out because if I remember rightly, it was auctioned off. But I do believe he started a new project (probably said in the vid ).
