Progress: Lamborghini Murcielago
This is the new Fujimi kit which is pretty nice overall but as with their tradition it has inaccuracies. Body parts fitment is top notch which is big improvement when compared to another of their newer kits like the NSX-R.
The wheels are very nice but a common occurance seems to be that the rim edge gets buggered during shipment, a packing glitch I would say. All four of my rims were buggered. The inaccuracies: Suppose to be a window trim panel line on the body above the side windows, not there. I will mask that line when I spray the black around the side windows. Not suppose to be window trim lines around the windshield, but they put them there. The window is a flush fit design. To correct the windshield trim I simply sanded the inner A pillar edge toward the panel til it was completely removed. Then I filled the horizontal line above the windshield. Before sanding and filling: ![]() After: ![]() You can see the window fits flush although the right A pillar is bowed slightly outward which will be corrected during assembly. ![]() There is a small sink mark on the rear deck requiring a smigge of putty. ![]() I also stretched the chassis about 3/16", though the real cars rear wheel is slightly mounted forward in the opening I moved mine back to my liking. Easy to do, one straight cut and add styrene strips. ![]() This is the car after moving the wheel back, and I do think I will go with the Volk CE28N's. ![]() With custom mixed House of Kolor 'Murciemelon Pearl' laid on. ![]() |

If you have a Hobby Town USA near by you will likely find some good foreign kits there but the big store chains don't usually have them. |

Got the window trim and cear coats on, time for polishing.
The color is really hard to photograph, my cam wants to make it too red so I have to adjust the color, still isn't exactly correct though. Still playing with wheel choices too. |

very nice again, just wondering have you taken on something more elaborate yet. A large scale Tamiya (Porsche 935) or the Fujimi enthusiast series (288 GTO/Stratos/Countach?). I would love to see those in progress.

To me large scale doesn't make it elaborate, just larger. I have a 1/24 Enthusiast 288GTO 80% built and fully detailed. I have several large scale kits I haven't gotten to yet. I'm getting to where I prefer to build curbside models because I enjoy the looks of the car more than all the gizmos beneath the skin. I don't have time to detail every model I have, I prefer to see more of them built. My Honda 272 is a highly detailed 1/20 scale model, I have made a few detailed to this level. Honda 272 F1 |

I rememeber having seen the Honda, I did it also and was tempted to make the fuel lines, but could not think of an appropriate way to connect them to the fuel distributor. Did you drill holes or just a tiny blop of super glue? I ended up with painting the engine cover and fixing it. To be honest I like the technical parts of a model, and sometimes it's just a shame to see everything disappear under the body. Therefore 1/12 scales like the Lotus 49 or the Honda are some of real favourites. When I am back home I'll make some pictures of those.

Got the interior finished, painted with custom mixes of Testors Acryl.
I used Replicas and Miniatures Wizards O's etched rings for the dash vent and speaker surrounds. I squeezed the ones for the vents into an oval to fit the shape of the vent. The shifter is a straight pin and the shift gate is photo etched. |
