Fahrerorientierter Siebensitzer, unerreichte Variabilität,
dynamisches Design

Mit dem neuen Zafira präsentiert Opel auf dem Automobilsalon in
Genf (3. - 13. März 2005) die zweite Generation des
Kompaktvan-Trendsetters erstmals der Öffentlichkeit. Dynamisches
Design und Fahrverhalten sowie ein größerer, hochwertiger Innenraum
mit fahrerorientiertem Cockpit zeichnen den neuen Zafira aus. Weitere
Entwicklungsschwerpunkte für die Neuauflage des
Siebensitzer-Bestsellers waren ein breites Programm modernster
Motoren und ein einzigartiges Technik-Angebot. Die nach wie vor
Maßstäbe setzende Flex7-Variabilität ohne lästigen Sitzausbau wurde
beibehalten. Sein Debüt im neuen Zafira hat ein neuartiges
Panorama-Dachsystem mit integrierten Staufächern, das ein angenehm
lichtes Raumgefühl ermöglicht.

Fahrdynamik auf höchstem Niveau bietet das aus dem Astra bekannte
und für den Zafira neu entwickelte IDSPlus-Fahrwerk (Interaktives
Dynamisches FahrSystem) mit elektronischer Dämpferregelung (CDC -
Continuous Damping Control). Zu den weiteren, erstmals im
Kompaktvan-Segment verfügbaren Technik-Highlights gehören die
"mitlenkenden" AFL-Bi-Xenon-Scheinwerfer (Adaptive Forward Lighting)
mit dynamischem Kurvenlicht. Die ungewöhnlich breite Antriebspalette
für den neuen Zafira umfasst hochmoderne Motoren mit Hubräumen von
1,6 bis 2,2 Liter und einem Leistungsspektrum von 74 kW/100 PS bis
147 kW/200 PS. Kein Mitbewerber bietet eine solche Vielfalt. Alle
Dieselaggregate verfügen über Common-Rail-Mehrfach-Direkteinspritzung
der neuesten Generation und sind serienmäßig mit einem wartungsfreien
Diesel Partikel-Filter (DPF) ausgerüstet. Die Markteinführung des
neuen Zafira, der ab Ende April im Werk Bochum produziert wird,
startet im Juli 2005.

Opel-Vorstandschef Hans Demant zur neuen Zafira-Generation: "Viel
Platz, größtmögliche Flexibilität und unkomplizierte Bedienbarkeit -
das erwarten die Kunden von einem modernen Van. Mit seinem noch immer
unübertroffenen Flex7-Innenraumkonzept besitzt der neue Zafira, wie
schon sein Vorgänger, den Schlüssel zum Erfolg. Hinzu kommen ein
aufregendes Design, begeisternde Fahrdynamik sowie innovative Technik
und viele praktische Detaillösungen."

1999 war der Opel Zafira der erste kompakte Van eines deutschen
Herstellers und die erste Großraumlimousine mit voll versenkbarer
dritter Sitzreihe. Vor allem sein patentiertes, genial einfach zu
bedienendes Flex7-Sitzsystem war ausschlaggebend für den Erfolg des
weltweit mehrfach ausgezeichneten Bestsellers. In Deutschland konnte
der Siebensitzer vom Marktstart weg viermal in Folge die
Spitzenposition in seiner Klasse erringen. Bislang wurden von der
ersten Zafira-Generation rund 1,4 Millionen Fahrzeuge produziert.

Die zweite Zafira-Generation zeigt sich von außen selbstbewusst,
dynamisch und mit deutlicher Familienähnlichkeit zum Astra, dessen
Designsprache im Kompaktvan-Format (Länge/Breite ohne
Außenspiegel/Höhe: 4.467/1.776/1.637 mm) neu interpretiert wurde.
Sportlichkeit und Eleganz signalisieren die ausgeprägte V-förmige
Pfeilung von Front und Heck mit der Opel-typischen Bügelfalte, die
kraftvoll ansteigende Karosserieschulter und die nach hinten sanft
abfallende, aerodynamische Dachlinie. Markante Details wie die großen
Lufteinlässe im vorderen Stoßfänger, technisch anmutende,
dreidimensionale Scheinwerfer und Heckleuchten oder der
trapezförmige, chromeingefasste Kühlergrill mit Opel-Blitz und
charakteristischer Chrom-Querspange betonen den elegant-dynamischen
Auftritt.

Im Innenraum dominieren hochwertige Materialien, hochklassige
Verarbeitung und perfekte Ergonomie. Beispiel: Das fahrerorientierte
Cockpit. Alle Bedienelemente sind für den Piloten optimal erreichbar.
So wurde der Schalthebel in einer höheren Position besonders
griffgünstig angebracht. Gleichzeitig schafften die Entwickler damit
Platz für einen neu konzipierten, in die Mittelkonsole integrierten,
bügelförmigen Handbremshebel und eine zusätzliche Ablagemöglichkeit.
Die neu gestaltete Armaturentafel beherbergt chromumrandete
Instrumente und eine klar gegliederte Mittelkonsole mit großem, gut
einsehbarem Zentraldisplay. Dieses übernimmt auch die Anzeige für die
modernen Infotainment-Systeme mit intuitivem Bedienkonzept, darunter
Geräte mit DVD-Navigation und Bluetooth-Technologie.

In puncto Komfort und Raumangebot legt der neue Zafira gegenüber
der ersten Generation noch einmal zu. Dank langem Radstand (2.703 mm)
und intelligentem Packaging finden die bis zu sieben Passagiere in
allen drei Sitzreihen jetzt noch mehr Platz. Das noch komfortabler zu
bedienende Flex7-Sitzsystem garantiert nach wie vor maximale
Variabilität für sämtliche Transportanforderungen im Alltag:
Innerhalb weniger Sekunden und kinderleicht lässt sich der Zafira vom
Sieben- zum Sechs-, Fünf-, Vier, Drei- oder Zweisitzer verwandeln,
ohne dafür Sitze ausbauen oder umständlich zwischenlagern zu müssen.
Auf Wunsch kann zudem der Beifahrersitz mit einer umlegbaren
Rückenlehne, Klapptisch an der Rückseite und großer Schublade unter
der Sitzfläche zum Verstauen beispielsweise von Straßenatlas oder
Kleinutensilien geordert werden. Ebenfalls besonders praktisch: Je
nach Ausstattung nehmen rund 30 Staufächer und Ablagen große sowie
kleine Gegenstände auf und machen den Raumriesen zum idealen
Familienauto.

Der Kofferraum des neuen Zafira ist mit 620 Litern Volumen in der
Fünfsitzer-Konfiguration noch einmal 20 Liter größer als beim
Vorgänger. Neu verfügbar ist das aus dem neuen Astra Caravan bekannte
FlexOrganizer-System. Das intelligente Laderaum-Management umfasst
zwei horizontal in den Seitenwänden des Gepäckabteils angebrachte
Schienen, die mit ihren variablen Befestigungspunkten die Möglichkeit
bieten, diverse Haltebänder, Haken, Trennwände und Stauboxen zu
fixieren. Auf diese Weise lässt sich jede Art von Ladegut sicher,
komfortabel und aufgeräumt transportieren.

Eine Weltneuheit ist das auf Wunsch für den neuen Opel Zafira
erhältliche Panorama-Dach mit integrierten Ablagen. Das System bietet
den Insassen mit vier großen Glasflächen eine besonders angenehme,
lichte Reiseatmosphäre. Dunkel getöntes Glas und ein elektrisch
betätigtes Beschattungssystem schützen vor zu starker
Sonneneinstrahlung. Zudem beherbergt die über die volle Innenlänge
reichende, mittig angeordnete Dachkonsole fünf unterschiedlich große
Klappfächer für zusätzlichen Stauraum.

Für Sicherheit auf höchstem Niveau steht das SAFETEC-System des
neuen Zafira, das alle serienmäßigen aktiven und passiven
Sicherheitselemente umfasst. Dazu gehören unter anderem ABS mit
elektronischer Bremskraftverteilung und Kurvenbremskontrolle, ein
Bremsassistent, das elektronische Stabilitätsprogramm ESPPlus sowie
ein umfassendes Rückhaltesystem mit Frontairbags sowie
Brust-Becken-Seitenairbags für Fahrer und Beifahrer und Kopfairbags
für die ersten beiden Sitzreihen. Die passive Sicherheitsausstattung
beinhaltet zudem aktive Kopfstützen vorne, auskuppelnde Pedale (PRS,
Pedal Release System) sowie Vorrüstungen für das
Kindersitzbefestigungs-System ISOFIX für die beiden äußeren Plätze in
der zweiten Reihe. Eine Sitzbelegungserkennung für den Beifahrersitz
oder das Reifendruckkontrollsystem TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring
System) können optional geordert werden.

Für wirtschaftlichen und dynamischen Vortrieb sorgt die breit
gefächerte Motorenpalette des neuen Zafira. Die Kunden haben die Wahl
zwischen drei Diesel- und vier Benzin-Triebwerken der ECOTEC-Reihe
mit einem Leistungsspektrum von 100 bis 200 PS. Topmotorisierung ist
der 147 kW/200 PS starke 2,0-Liter-Turbobenziner, der den Zafira mit
rund 220 km/h Höchstgeschwindigkeit zum veritablen Sportler macht.
Darunter rangieren ein 2,2-Liter-Benzin-Direkteinspritzer (110 kW/150
PS) und ein neues 1,8-Liter Triebwerk (103 kW/140 PS). Den Einstieg
markiert ein 1,6-Liter-Motor (77 kW/105 PS) mit der innovativen
TWINPORT-Benzinspar-Technologie.

Drei hochmoderne 1,9-Liter-Common-Rail-Turbodiesel mit
Mehrfach-Direkteinspritzung machen das Motorenangebot für den neuen
Zafira komplett. Die 1.9 CDTI-Aggregate sind serienmäßig mit einem
wartungsfreien Diesel-Partikel-Filter ausgestattet und werden in drei
Leistungsstufen angeboten: 74 kW/100 PS, 88 kW/120 PS sowie 110
kW/150 PS.

Das Getriebeangebot im neuen Zafira umfasst ein
Sechsgang-Schaltgetriebe (Serie für 2.2 direct, 2.0 Turbo und alle
1.9 CDTI), eine manuelle Fünfgang-Schaltung (Serie für 1.6 TWINPORT
und 1.8), ein Sechsgang-Automatikgetriebe (Option für 1.9 CDTI mit
120 und 150 PS) mit ActiveSelect-Tippfunktion und eine
Vierstufen-Automatik (optional für 2.2 direct). In Verbindung mit dem
1,8-Liter-Benziner steht alternativ zudem das weiter entwickelte
automatisierte Schaltgetriebe Easytronic zur Verfügung.
