What can I say - I have a one track mind...

= = = = =

Indidentally, when someone refers to "whp" the "w" stands for 'wheel'. Wheel horsepower is the amount of power measured through the wheels - like on a rolling dyno - and is lower than crank/flywheel horsepower. Every car has some percentage of driveline losses from the friction in the transmission and the drag of engine components like the alternator, water pump, a/c, etc. Depending on the drivetrain, some cars are more inefficient than others, but typically you will see a 15% reduction in power from the flywheel to the wheels.

this, taken during the Tour Auto 2005 on the Charade track near Clermont Ferrand, the famous Puy de Dome in the background

Edit: the first one able to identify all four vehicles on track will get the full size version of the pic

from front to back i would say alfa, ferrari, alfa romeo guiletta(?) and bmw csl... but that is only a very rough guess...

2nd one looks like it may be an Aston Martin maybe DB4, but i think it looks too skinny to be that...

you got the first three right, more or less, the fourth not. To add to the challenge, a high res pic of each the cars will be send to the first correct answer....

again, first three more or less right, fourth one wrong, and you need to better specify the types of the first three, in particular the third car
