classic!
amazing also thinking how they could still die in those days yet still raced so close.

last three laps actually.
do you know what track they used in '79 for the french GP?
looks cool, lots of elevation change.
EDIT: Dijon

YES!
they can crash at close to top speed and have minor injuries thanks to the new tubs and HANS. ralf crashed at 180 backwards into the wall (not tires ) at indy and had a broken vertebae which is one of the worst injuries since burti at Spa in 2001(2000?)

It is Dijon, and after the finish the drivers embraced each other very thoroughly. They had enjoyed it too. Come for that today and you will be greatly disappointed

actually answered my own question a while ago(see the EDIT), but thanks to both anyway.

do you prefer to see drivers being friendly? i like rivalries better, where they really hate each other. Schumacher vs. Montoya , Rossi vs. Biaggi .

I prefer the sport to be the race.
AFTER the race there should be space for the winner to be magnanimous !!

Kind of liek it USED to be on the rugby field. Kick shit out of each other for 80 minutes. Shake hands at the end and get pissed together in the bar.

It's called being "adult"

actually in this case the winner was Jabouille, even the first ever win by a turbo car, but it received little attention because of this heroic battle
