Maple Grove VW Super Jam.

I took off down to Maple Grove Raceway yesterday for a VW show. It was relatively small, probably 300 cars. But it was a nice day, and a very laid back show. I got sunburned like woah. My neck hurts.

Jet car, ran 5.8 @ 257... You could hear this thing anywhere on the grounds, and when it started up the show field emptied and everyone ran to the strip. On one of its runs I was on the other side of the grandstands, and when it went by I could feel my heart shaking in my chest. It was nuts.

This is a VWVortex member's car. It's a Mk3 GTI that started life as a 4 lug 2.0L. After it was totalled, he bought it back, rented a warehouse, and stuck a 1.8T from a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg in it, along with a Mk4 interior. It's by far my favorite Mk3. The quality of the work is top notch.

I got to talk to him for a few minutes, he's a very nice guy and was willing to take time out of his work day (he works for NGP racing, one of the vendors at the show) to answer my questions.

427 Corvette motor crammed into the front of a Bug. The firewall was pushed back, and the front seats were moved to where the rear seats were, making it a coupe.

20th AE with nitrous spray onto the intercooler. The red MK3 is Doomed's car, from VWVortex. His car is always spotless.

The Passat has some questionable styling, but it's got a turbo VR. I won't argue with him.
