I'll reveal the answer in 3 days:

C.H.O.P. but i have no evidence to prove it, just a guess (the 'corvette' black parts do look weird res. compare to other parts....)

I'll have to say real. Based on the shadows.

I'd say real, everything fits far too well to be a chop. The only thing I'm not sure about is exactly how a massive V8 will fit in a Miata subframe
 Unless he moved the firewall...

I say real. The photo looks good enough for me.
I've heard some stories about V8's in MX5's, so it is possible. Moreover, I noticed the "Laguna Seca" sticker. Mazda owns the circuit, so that's a bit of a "clue"

Real.
People throw V8s in Miatas all the time, and the LS1 is one of the more compact ones on the market. Given everything else going on in the photo, I find it difficult not to believe.
