Waterfest lived up to its name.
For 3 days every July, Englishtown, NJ is turned from its quiet self into the VW capitol of North America. And those 3 days were this weekend.
Being short on cash as I always am, I could only go for one day. I picked Sunday, as it's the day where the real show cars are there, and the racing is more exciting usually. I almost didn't go at all, as rain was forecast for the whole weekend. Thank you hurricane whatever that destroyed Cuba last week. More on that later... Now, driving to one of these shows is half the fun of the show itself. So I looked up a cruise to join. First pics are from the meeting place; a rest stop off the PA Turnpike.

There were roughly 100 cars. We ended up getting separated after we got into NJ at the one toll plaza.

We were doing 80-100 in the dry, and about 60 when it started raining. Which was good, because I need new tires and I was hydroplaning at anything over about 65...

Lots of cars. There's no numbers for this year yet, but last year there were 1500 cars in the show, and about another 100 in the vendor booths. 20,000 people attended in the weekend last year. Early estimates were that those numbers would fall.
Seeing a S3 in person has only made me lust for one even more than before...

VWVortex.com brought one of each gen of GTI, all in black. Very cool display. Len Hunt, senior VP of VWoA, was also rumored to be in attendance.

The white GTI had ghost flame. They're so ghost, it's impossible to see them in the picture. The engine bay airbrushing was all hand done, and looks better in person.

DubAudi Grouppe is a car club in NY/NJ mainly. Their cars are all top notch.
The blue Cabrio is a VR swapped car. It's becoming a very popular swap, because the Cabrio is generally regarded as a girl's car. This is a girl's car with balls.

One of NGP Racing's Rallye Golf's. This one's got a VR6 turbo that will put out 550awhp on 110octane at 28psi.
