Rally Video - Ragnotti showing what the lowly FWD Clio could do in the right hands

Ragnotti was a great driver but outside of France is seldom remembered even though he lit up the international stage winning in the tiny R5 turbo against the mighty AWD

Here's a sweet video of him chucking the original Clio rally car.

Based on the last Clio (not the '06 model) were some Group N Rallycars called "Clio Ragnotti"... Did he or his company built them or were they just named after him?

Just named after him IN FRANCE ( see first post comment )

They were the 172 Cup everywhere else and designed/tuned built by Alpine.
They were road-going cars but employed on track and stage because of their excellent power and handling

he still IS a great driver, coming to close to overall victory in the modern Tour Auto's driving one of the Group B Alpines. An engine not running too well in the beginning put him out of serious contention this year, but the Alpine is surely to return next year, together with the driver

I agree ,and he won the Montecarlo with the R5 Turbo after an intensive fight with Therrier on the Porsche 911 .Although he had some problems with the 1800 alpine this year , it's still amzing to see what he's able to do against the GT40 and the 365 GTB/4.
here he's driving the R5 Turbo for an exhibition : http://gordinix.free.fr/videos/R5%20turbo%20HQ.WMV

and a vid of J.R. in action with the with the clio williams apparently , it's very long , I'm downloading it , apologies for the screen so:http://www.cliowilliamsclub.net/video/solo_clio.avi (you won't see only him)
