GT3 rolls at the ring

It hurts just to watch...

Part 1, the roll

Part 2, the flatbed truck un-rolls it...

Wow, that really would suck. I feel sorry for that guy for how much that would cost to fix.

I highly doubt that. At track days I've heard that insurance doesn't cover accidents at races, and that is from people who wrecked thier daily drivers/race cars.

Luckily, he had lost enough speed and he didn't hit hard enough to do any major structural damage. Probably not a horrible repair bill. Horrible by my standards maybe, but not by GT3-owner standards.

It's really interesting to how he flipped, the momentum stayed with the car even after he collided with the fence until he got onto his side and then the top. That was one wild ride, scary as hell probally.

Before I saw it I though it was going to flip because the tires dug in the sand... then watching it, it seemed it was going to bounce ok from the wall, but suddenly it bounces awkwardly and turns over... I guess it was plain bad luck (about the way it bounced). Nevertheless, he tried to take a line too close to the right of the track. If he had followed the line of the 350Z he would be ok.

Races aren't covered by insurance unless you have asked ofr it -- read the samll print timne trials, races and trimeed events are explicitly NOT covered.

Trackdays have always been a grey-area and some used to and some didn't. MOST now exclude trackdays explcitily as they used to racing. In the UK insurance snoops can usually be seen with digital camera in hand

If you race or even just trackday it's worht making sure insurance cover is there. On the A610 it was scary anyway as the company which DID provide cover also said that on track and stages my personal liability was £5,000 -- so I was liable for the first 5 GRANDS worth of damage.

We've had i think 3 GT3's roll in local competition last year alone. There was one at Albert Park (unless im mistaking this one for '04), the classic one at Queensland Raceway (which was followed up the next day by a V8 Supercar rolling at the same corner, under similar conditions) and one at Bathurst where i think there was a rear tyre blowout at 280km/h turning into the Caltex Chase. Remarkably all 3 (4 including the V8 ) were repairable and ready to race again. Testament to the chassis strength and stiffness
