Shannon's Wheels Motor Show 12-3-06

Today was the Shannon's Wheels Motor Show. There was plenty of brilliant cars, with a great show of Aussie and American muscle, a heap of immaculate MX-5s, a nice collection of Euros, lots of British sportscars, and plenty of Vintage.

Its an FC from 1958-59

It looks to be a really neat example. The thick chrome side flash originating from the A pillar is rarely seen in that edition of Holden ute. If that final horizontal chrome stripe leading up to the tail-light is one-piece, then this unique part hints that this ute might be the very rare 'Special' ute not the Standard model which comprised virtually all of FC ute production

My father bought a new FC Business sedan in '59 and my uncle got the Special, so I've plenty of Old Holden memories. In 1968 with four of us aboard the FC we spun out on a dirt road at 50mph and Dad rolled it .. on his birthday! Still got us the 60 miles home but pretty mangled. $500 of damage on a car then valued at $550 - it took over 2 months to fix

[edit] after downloading the pic I see there's an EK Holden on the left, HR to the right
