Nordschleife - M3 - daily speed fix

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...59812920173995

Not rip-snortingly fast but this M3 is cruising nicely.
He passes a delivery van on the 'ring?
And why not take it to the end of the straight...

On the general tourist days they don't have the full straight open, you start and finish your laps from the old pits on the right hand side of the straight about two thirds of the way along. That's why you often hear about "bridge to gantry" times, where people measure their laptime from the Antonius Buche Bridge (end of hte straight) to the metal gantry at the beginning of the straight. See the Top Gear episodes where they drive at the 'Ring to see what I mean.

It's only on designated track days where they open up the full straight, and also use the pits and track of the GP circuit.

I see, that explains some of the more mundane cars on the road as well.

Yep. busses, camper vans and scooters !!
Anything.
One of the reasons why it's very dangerous and serious 'ringers go in "packs" with radios
