NO chance a trike wins on anything other than a straight line.
Ridden one - a converted BMW by Griannal.
Y
our friend MIGHT have confused a trike with a racing bike/sidecar though. Seriouslu fast

Another friend has two Grinnals one a BMW1200 and the other the Triumph -- it's a monster.
..
BUT when he was down pickign his up a potential customer had flipped a BMW on the road at a corner -- oops

That's not strictly accurate. One front/two rear wheeled trikes are pretty horrible, but 2 front/one rear is much better (see Can-Am Spyder et al). Though quite a few of those, the T-Rex for example, are more car-like, than bike-like.

Yeah, agreed, the Grinnal with BMW rear end is excellent, so nice to slide the rear out.

My distaste of the R1200C has nothing to do with it's performance or handling. It's just ewww, even as a bike. WTF were they smoking when they thought it up?

True. I had not really considered those to be trikes, but I guess they do qualify for the name, don't they? I'll grant you that some of those are pretty quick, but I think I would still prefer either a traditional bike or a car. If I wanted halfway in between I'd rather go for the Ariel Atom (4 wheels, but there's still some bike soul in there.)

What "bike soul" is there in an Atom?

Somwhere between driving naked without body panels or a windshield or the suicidal tendencies of the driver who would buy something like that.

Hehe, well, I'm not so sure about suicidal, but you have to admit it takes a certain mindset to be willing to have no roof/body panels/windshield. For that matter, there are some bikes that weigh more than an Atom. I've seen a modified 502 V8 Boss Hoss that weighed 1200lbs; no idea how you're suppose to control it or get it upright again if/when it falls over since the owner wasn't there for questions and it was just the info on the show card.

imo, the only problem with such a car is high speed stability, since it has no down force and the low weight doesn't generate a good grip. but at slower speed you are in advantage since with a low weight you also has a lower force of inertia to face if something is going wrong...

Yeah, I guess that's one advantage to the Atom 500 over the lesser ones now that it has the huge wings, but at that kind of speed the wind buffeting has got to be brutal. Even spot bikes are more comfortable at speed, which is kind of sad.

probably, with all that power, the atom 500 isn't going to be really faster on the road, it's kinda impossible to use that amount of power at low speed with that low weight. see what happen to the caparo...it's brutally fast yes, but not so entertaining...btw, for the ring i guess an Atom with 300 bhp is good enough. probably even the one with 240 bhp is very funny.
