Junkyard of contaminanted vehicles (Chernobyl - The Zone of Alienation)

In the rescue action after the Chernobyl disaster hundreds of vehicles were used: fire engines, military trucks, armoured vehicles, buses, cranes, helicopters. All those vehicles were heavily radiated and had to be abandoned. They will never be used again, all is left for them is to sit and rust on this vast area surrounded with barbed wire fence and signs that threaten intruders with death.

Why are the hoods up on all of them? And if they're so dangerous, who parked them in neat rows?

Always wondering...

Thanks for posting them!

People in anti-radiation suits. The same people who drove them there.

It is possible that people drove them in wearing radiation protection suits.

The lost city of Chernobyl is indeed a fascinating and eerie place. This photo blog thing by a Ukranian lady who rides through the "dead zone" on her Ninja is an enthralling and spooky read - http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chapter1.html

In other news, girls who ride Ninjas are HOT!
