My Time Lapse Film
I have been working on a short time lapse film ala Baraka this year and I've finally finished! I'll just c/p the description of youtube since it has all the info.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwlyWjjAndQ This is the culmination of a year of work in my Independent Photography class. All scenes were shot in Austin, Texas (hence the title). The point was to make ordinary everyday events seem a little more special through some simple time lapse. Big thanks to Chris Caselli on the photography side for letting me do my own thing and also thanks to Troy Lanier on the editing side for schooling me in the ways of Final Cut Pro. Mathew Morriss too Camera: Nikon D200 Music: "The Future, Wouldn't That Be Nice" by The Books please enjoy; a lot of work and pride has gone into this project. btw, i posted in the multimedia section instead of the random vid section because it's not so random, i created it. my favorite screen shot: ![]() this is cool too, 180 degree panning view ![]() Last edited by MPower22; 05-25-2007 at 12:07 AM.. |

Cool, so you took that many pictures and then blended them together in a super-fast slide-show, so to speak?
I would love to see a high-res of the project. must be stunning

haha, basically yeah, a super fast slide show that plays at 30 frames per second. the youtube version is 7mb...the actual uncompressed movie is 700mb. The quality difference between the two is crazy.

I can only imagine, sounds like a fully high-def film. 10 seconds would be even worth seeing.

Wow, that's a real nice video.
How'd you leave your equipment there without someone messing with it at all? It definitely would have taken you a lot of time to take those photos. I'm sure you must have had to solve problems with the battery of the camera too. Amazing work there. |

thats cool...you live in Austin i assume? I'm in Houston.
![]() I always assumed these were just movie clips sped up, not individual photos put together. What lens(es?) did you use?

at first I thought "wow, why did he waste his time with a still camera, why not use video?" but watching it just a bit more, I really really like it. As a film student, this really inspires me. I've done some timelapse stuff with video before (on Canon XL2 and Panasonic DVX) but this just has a different quality to it... and it must be really spectacular in its uncompressed format.

Mpower, have you seen the film Koyaniscotsi? I really think you would enjoy it if you enjoy time lapse stuff... Simply an amazing piece of work.
