really goes to show how extremely strong these f1 cars are. Can not believe that some could survive such a crash.

He experienced 75 Gs?? Good lord, that's unbelievable that he survived, i wonder how his intestines weren't turned to mush after undergoing that kind of pressure

He experienced 75G for a very, very short period of time. Milliseconds. He would not have survived otherwise. That's what they said on TV here when I watched the race.

Wow excellent little vid shame about the dodgy 'tallica song. 75g is nothing though when you read about David Purley's crash in 1977.
Quote:
Purley survived a deceleration rate 173 to 0 km/h in 66.0 cm in a crash during pre-qualifying for the 1977 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This is equal to 178 g, which has been claimed to be the greatest g ever survived by a human.[1] He suffered multiple fractures to his legs, pelvis and ribs. Purley recovered to race again although confined his activities to the minor Aurora AFX series of F1 races in Britain. Taken from wikipedia.org
now that must have been some crash.

I think he had a bigger chance to survive because of the first crash (of his right wheel). It might have taken out some of the energy of the crash. Into a straight wall at about 90 degrees I am very doubtful he would have survived without injury.

I think the tipping of the right front wheel made him airborne...if had missed that he might have stayed on the ground and may have been able to avoid the next wall....

Next wall is the one on the other side I assume ?

I don't think it would have mattered much to be honest. As you can see on the images he was bouncing in the air way before he hit anything. Quite a big chance he would have hit it in the same way anyway...

no, the wall on the same side...he was bouncing but he changed direction after tipping the first wall...

The simulation actually has him rolling the wrong way after the 2nd wall impact and bouncing off the ground. In the simulation he rolls the way you would expect, but that is different to the way he actually rolled.

The 2nd impact was alot closer to 70 degrees. I cant agree that the first impact actually helped him. Had he not hit the first wall, its likely he wouldve scrubbed off alot more speed leading into what became the 2nd impact, and wouldnt have been as close to clearing the barrier leading to the hairpin as he was ultimately.
