This is the Vette which will be converted to the GT2 class in ALMS next year.

Those are some nice pics!

BTW, do you have pictures of the Acura TSX/RSX that runs in the same series, iirc?

Followed the link ... anyone care to explain why it's called the Speed World Challenge ??

I thought by now the ridicule over the "world series" would stop organisations confuising the North American continent and "the world"

Regardless, running on some nice tracks and nice looking cars ... wht're the pit-babes like ?

We've got cars from all over the world . From countries like Sweden, Japan, and even Germany. Several years back someone brought a Civic Type-R from the UK.

world enough for ya?

Maybe if you guys weren't so snotty and participated and knew about them, it truly would be a world challenge.

You made such a continent (not self centered) comment there.

jeez you guys are so up tight.

How many smileys does it take to make it a joke !!!

But as it's garnered that response well let's get serious.
Other than one-make there are cars from all over the world in every race on the planet !!!

Only one place seems to HAVE to call everything a WORLD series/challenge Stop being pricks and we won't take the piss

Didn't want it to be taken the wrong way, hence the smileys.

I think I've been saying that a lot lately.

Tru dat, we do have a lot of "World Series" everythings.

Baseball is the most infuriating one. BTW, I'm not a baseball fan, so I can bash the hell out of it.

I really like this series. They almost always run the Friday before ALMS events. My only complaint is that the races are too short. Also speed doesn't broadcast live so I never know when to tune in.

This year at Road Atlanta I witnessed one of the most memorable races of my life. With about 20 min left in the race the deluge started. It was a legendary rainstorm in a matter of minuets there was at least an inch of standing water between turns 2 &3. The races are short enough to be run on one set of tires so practically nobody pitted for rain tires. At least 20 of the cars skipped off the wall of turn 2 and went sideways through 3 into the grass (My friends and witnessed the entire escapade from turn 4.) As far as I could tell Ron Fellows (drove a CTS-V part time this season) was pretty much the only driver to make it through the water unscathed. He must have made up close to 10 positions to lead, I later found out that he let his teammate (who was in the points chase) pass in the last turn. Amazingly of the 20 or more cars that slid off the track only two had to be retired from the race: the Whelen motorsports #30 & 31 C6s collided while hydroplaning (the red and white cars pictured above.)

Edit: Didn't have my camera on me at the time but I dug up this pic in the net:

Hope a pic of a comp coup & 911 in a C6 thread won't ruffle any feathers

They're probably going to start using the Z06.R GT3 Corvette next year. A bit easier to work with!

I think the Corvette they use now is U G L Y! If I entered, it would be with a Z06.R by Callaway, or a DBRS9.
