We pretty much had that too. If the total damage is over a grand then the crash must be reported by both parties to the cops within.. 48 hours I think, then the insurance companies (if applicable) haggle and whomsoever is at fault's premium rises. It used to be that everyone's premium would rise, but insurers have been using "If the crash isn't your fault you don't lose your no claim bonus!" to sell themselves for long enough for it to be de rigour.

The cop filled out the report. Because estimated damage is over $5,000 it has to be signed off on by a higher office before becoming official. Then the insurance companies will be notified. I have already called mine, just to advise them.

insurance is sooo annoying. a guy hit me in a car park and denied it was his fault. insurance write off because of cost of damage (£1600, car is worth £1800), honda parts are expensive ha. got it repaired myself for cheap. but 2 years later still not gone had a full court session (he has missed the last two with a "broken knee"). should be finished in my may.

i hope its alot easier in america and you will get your car fixed and all costs paid for. insurance would be so high over here if 16 yr olds were driving, its high enough as it is.

u didnt get whiplash or anything looks like he wasnt going slow!?

That really all depends on department policy. Some departments have alot more on their agenda to take care of and honestly cant be bothered with small crashes (however this is anything but). Personally I am sick to death of the MV-4000 forms.

Sorry to hear about the incident, hope all gets taken care of and quickly.

Police report was just posted... Pretty cut and dried. In the morning I'll be on the phone with his insurance company, and we'll see what's what.

Officer comments: (I am V2/D2 - just so ya'll know)

This accident occurred as V1 was traveling WB on Harold. V2 was stopped at the intersection of Harold and Parkway, waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street.

V1 struck V2 in the rear at the intersection.

D2 stated that he was stationary, waiting for the pedestrian to cross the street. D1 said that he didn`t realize V2 was stopped and that is why he struck V2.

There were no injuries reported.

D1 was cited for no insurance and basic speed, citation # Txxxxxx.

Photos were taken and attached to this report.

Nothing follows.

Sorry about your car. I hope that insurance can cover the repairs. I'm surprised that the police didnt arrive. In the UAE the police would arrive at any accident scene regardless how small and drivers were not allowed to move their cars so as to get a true picture fo the accident, unless the accident was very small.

Here in Pakistan people start attacking each other verbally or physically regardless of who is at fault. its rare that the accident is solved by peaceful negotiations. the police dont attend to accidents.
