I can't believe an italian is saying this.

I thought 170mph was the minimum speed in the autostrada...

...i have to admit...italians are not so good in respecting the code of the street...i did some trips in this days, 900 km, and i found some "caccia" (fighting planes as i call them) in my rearview mirror, but they were doing something like 120 mph, not more. in the last times, police is very hard with speed traps and that bastard thing called "tutor". it calculates even your average speed timing the time you employ to pass in two point where they put speed traps. it is the same mechanism to calculate official speed records, but on a 7 km distance, at least...so you could take three fines: at the beginning, in the middle because of the average, and at the last trap. let me say just THANK YOU at least before they had to stop you immediately otherwise the fine was illegal, then they removed this thing saying it was dangerous, and now this. this is not prevention or instruction of reckless drivers but just repression.
i have to admit it made our highways less dangerous, but it's a stupid thing since they have done this just to not improving the safety of the roads.

Stop looking at me! Look at me! Stop looking at me!
The cops have 10x more resources than you do. 99/100 you're going to get caught. They have multiple cars and coordination, they can call in aerial surveilance if they need to, coordinate with other cars which way you're going to pick up the chance or even lay spike strips. People watch too many movies these days and think they can get away with stupid shit.

I topped out the Slobalt a few times (180 km/h), but I did it on desert, empty roads, where the only person that could potentially face any consequences regarding the speed I was going was myself. Long stretch of desert roads are not so hard to find at 3 AM when there's nothing but forest in sight... I would never do it if there was anybody else either with me as a passenger or other cars around.

If I was to see a cop car I would definitely stop. Outrunning them is a MAJOR felony here and I'm not particularly tempted by the idea of doing some jail time.

Anyway, I'm known as Capitaine Lenteur (Captain Slow) among my friends because I'm usually driving under the speed limits

I kind of wish this poll was public. Do most of you use the word pig for police simply because its the first thing that comes to mind, or purposely as a derogatory term?

*edit* This should be a three part poll as well, with the third being something like "Im not an idiot who feels comfortable subjecting others on the road to possible serious bodily risk just so I can be reckless and stupid."

Didn't seem to make much of a difference when I was there about a couple of months ago. Italians still drove massively fast.

In particular in the A1 the average speed seemed to be... well... FAST.

If you don't gotta worry police, you gotta worry about deer and moose. Did you forget that you're in Canada?

I wouldn't have been doing that speed. Because I can't afford such a car yet. Even if I could, I wouldn't. That's just retarded.

I think my train of thought would have been, "Hell, I'm already going this fast."
But that would be if I was going that fast in the first place, and I dont see that happening.

Wait, wait, wait, we're all in agreement that if you're in a Mustang Cobra and a Corvette tries to show you up that your honor bound to do what ever it takes and go absolutely as fast as you can in order not let him show you up, right?

That's just common sense, right?

That's a kind of "none of the above" ... so don't bother voting

In my own experience with police. More than half are corrupt. So I can easily see why others use the word "pig" to desribe them...they are humans too after all

I do know some really awesome people that are cops though. So not all are bad

They are different everywhere you go.

Of course I didn't forget. As I said, I usually drive slow, and roads where I could possibly meet a moose or a deer generally have a 90 km/h speed limit, I drive at 70 with high beams on.
