The Lambo just wasn't good enough in braking and turn-in at the haiprin to keep the Porsches at bay

I think you need track day insurance to run, not 100% sure.

It would be stupid not to fork out a few extra £££'s if you can afford any of these cars

It depends.
Some insurance companies allow track days as long as it's not timed and you do NOT race.
They don't care how fast you go, just they don't want peole mixing it going into corners.
My A610 insurance is like that.
HOWEVER, when I go on track the excess becomes 5000 pounds ( $8000 ) so it's pretty much only any use if you write the car off
I've had a major off at Brands and paid for the repairs myself as it worked out cheaper.

You SHOULD have 3rd party insurance to cover other people - marshals, spectators, etc. These are avialble on rallies and trackdays for about 10-20 pounds. Some events will require it ( and offer the cover ) while others don't.

Some folks have trackday cars which they trailer in. Some of these are on full competition insurance as they race them as well and some are just NOT insured.

Specialist companies now offer trackday insurance for about 200 pounds, but still high excess in case of accidents.

One trick some folks used to do was if they had an accident just tow the car a few miles down the road, park it in a ditch and phone for recovery and tell the insurance company it happened on road. At most trackdays now you can usually spot the insurance company photographer. Yes they photograph cars on the track. If you make a claim within a few weeks of the trackday they need YOU to prove it didn't happen at track or they dont' pay out !! Quite right too as we were all paying for these cheats.

You sign a disclaimer before being allowed on track which basically says if ANYTHING happens then nobody is to blame. So you are careful who you go on track with. Avoiding the kiddies in the rusty Novas is important. I've personally seen a Ford Fiesta plough into the back of a 911 at the hairpin. The idiot in the Fiesta thought his car could brake as well as a Porsche and followed him into the braking zone. The Porsche slowed down, he didn't - until he hit the 911 And there's nothing the Porsche owner could do - except learn the lesson for next time !!

Trackdays at Knockhill are now split into "hot hatch" which is anyone and "top marque" which is by invite and dependant on the car and driver capability. Makes it a lot safer for everyone
