Is this not a remake or sequel to Death Race 2000?
The original became a cult classic despite the fact it was a truly terrible film. I don't hold out much hope for this modern version given that it's got Jason Statham as the lead "actor".

Death Race 2000 was such a terrible movie... but at least the video game made after it was insane.

Not the best story but it still looks like it has good action sequences.
