I think it was in NFS Carbon.

It sounds extremely familiar, it's drum n bass of some sort. Reminds me of Calyx, but I'm not 100%. A lot of it sounds the same.

edit. It's most certainly Dieselboy. I don't think it's the one from NFS though, which is this song.

My first thought was dieselboy as well. Even if you can't figure out what specific songs these are I'm sure if you look into dieselboy and other drum n bass artists you'll enjoy the music you find.
