Sure did, it was one of the Bodine brothers(Geoffrey I think). He was back racing either late that year or that same race the next season. That was the innagural race of the season at Daytona.

The guy in the MG is Russ Swift.
He was Autoest champion who got asked to do some demo drigin at shows and since then has done stunt shows in Rover cars for years and years.
He used to do Minis, then other Rover cars (MGs) and now does new Minis as well as others who use him to "demonstrate" their cars - including VX220
"Fame" came with a TV ad he did showing his parallel parking - it won loads of awards round the world.

This clip is NOT his tightest parking.
IIRC he holds some record for hand-brake parking into the smallest space -- in a Mini

I met him years ago at Ingliston track where he was demonstrating and he is a really nice guy - and the best I've ever seen in Autotests, the things he could make a MIni do -- it was like an extension of his body
