6 wheels

This covini C6W

TOP SPEED: 300Kph (185mph)

Covini thinks 4 front wheels bring some advantages with them
First the risc of aqau planning by rain is much less as by two front wheels
and the passive safety is bigger for example by a flat tire or by braking.

Covini is planned to built 6 to 8 pieces a year

the 4 front wheels are proven to provide excellent grip compared to just the 2

Balls.
6 wheels are pointless, as shown by the fact that there has been a grand total of about three cars using the concept.

Ok so they might give better grip for turning, but...
No difference to braking
Pointless extra mechanical complexity
Added risk if intrusion into the cabin in impact (as the second set of wheels are further back as the front overhang needs to be quite short)
Extra weight
Added drag from friction
Looks crap.

It is a gimick, nothing more.

The car was NOT successful.
It had some advantages, but were not enough to make up for the impossible challenge of setting up the fronts.
It was a nightmare to drive and was a clear dead-end of the day.
With later computer controlled dampers, it MIGHT be made to work, but FOCA agreed to stick to 4 wheels and all the experiments ended.

Vehicles with 6 wheels :Tyrell P34, the Panther six, and this Covini.
That is two production vehicles.

There have been probably many tens of thousands of production cars that use four wheels only.

From this I have deduced that 6 wheels on a car are crap.
