A test in the latest EVO mag. rated the 996 at 4.5 stars, and the 997 at 5 stars.

I'm not as keen on the stylin of the 997 as i was of the 996. The 996 had a kinda hardcore, f*cked-your-sister look about it. The new 997 is too soft and fluffy. Almost seems to be taking the p*ss out of the origional 911 design. I'm sure it'll grow on me though

yea i agree. the 996 headlights, although seemingly widely criticized, gave it a realy agressive look, this isnt as cool. i think averything alse is great. but if i were gonna buy a porsche, id go for the 996. hopefully the 997 variations are more agressive.
