really good. Its times like these that you have to stop and think, which looks better, the real thing or the computer model

yep! But I've rarely seen any good chops of the F1. Except for the ones on here.

If you're interested, I posted a bunch of McLaren F1 renders here:

Not sure if all the links work now though.

It's the times taken for different 3D rendering packages to complete the image from a 3d description.

I suspect this is from an ad for 'render drive' given it's the fastest

Take measurements of the real car at 1cm steps across the WHOLE body.
THEN enter them as mesh co-ordinates into a 3D package.
Press the 'render' button
THe first 2 parts are a little difficult !!
Of course, if you can get the design files where it STRTED life as a model, it's easier !!
If you're interested in tryign to do this, search for any of the decent PC racing sims and you'll find guides on how to produce your own cars. The older sims are simple with only a few hundred surfaces in a mesh. The newer ones are thousands and are getting quite accurate. Good place to start tho as you'll likely to find someone has done it already.

Chekc out the pic at http://www.nfscars.net/car.php?ID=2668 - recognise it ?? The only reason I ever loaded NFS on my PC. Was a disappointment !!!
