On Windows, all you need to do is download the DivX decoders and WM will automaticlly select it based on the codec details in the file.

IF you want to convert them, then download the DivX decoders from www.divx.com AND RAD video tools from http://www.radgametools.com/smkdown.htm

Be careful if you use MovieMaker and check the Nimo versions.
I had Nimo and had to uninstall it as they caused MM to terminate.
The codec didnt' do all the thing MS wanted it to do - more a MM problem but if you want to use MM be aware. Hopefully they've fixed this in the NIMO codecs but I dont'[ need them now

Use WinAvi (http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm)..
It converts a file with 700MB in 35 minutes...
