Counterlight? Back-lit would be a better description.

The camera is pointing towards the sun, coming from the south. I wouldn't exactly that back-lighting I dunno the proper english for what it is (guess counter-light), but I think you get the point !

No(r)way.
I think you should watermark your photos with even bigger letters.
They make the icing on the cake for me. As the font type lover I am.

The object is lit from behind, hence the commonly used term back-lit. English is a language of its own and does not only feature terms that are literally translated from Dutch. Idiot is an exception.

I'm sorry, i didn't really get your point. I can see what you mean now and it is indeed back-lit then

Thanks. Perhaps interesting to know that this tug was also involved in the beaching of the Zhen Hua 10 recently.

Who cares? The important thing here is the beauty and technical perfection of this picture. That includes the watermark.

Thank you, it was indeed a very pleasant surprise to my eyes when looking through the batch. Recently I've been taking tonnes of pictures on the maritime subject and might get a permit to photograph at some terminals as well soon, should be interesting..

Congratulations on picking on a guy who only submitted a picture in a photography competition. I understand you don't like him, but as moderators (and even the man behind this website) I would expect a better behavior. My two cents.

Which is exactly why I visit rarely nowadays (except problems with the law then). It's a great community, but the highly hostile attitude of the mods and leading team makes it very unwelcoming for new and old members. Basically nothing except what they are used to is good. A little bit more of an open focus wouldn't harm anyone. Benefit of the doubt principle and not slashing anyone's head off when it sticks above the corn field.
