Ah, yes, but...
In 1999 Mercedes Benz unveiled the "Vision SLR" and said that the car would be in build by 2003, which it was.
They said it would have a 550bhp engine, do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and do 199mph.
It has 626bhp, does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 208mph.
Above and beyond.
In 2000 Bugatti unveiled the Veyron 16/4 Concept and said it would be built by 2003, which it wasn't.
They said it would have 1001bhp and do 250mph.
It still isn't being built, so it is going to be at least 2 years late. The "standard" car won't be able to do 250mph, for that you apparently need some tacky wings and special tyres.
If they do make the 1:18 model, it'll probably be better than the actual car.

I've read on a magazine that Bugatti wants to make the Veyron reach 450 kph (i think), and for that Bugatti would have to change very much the Veyrons shape for a greater aerodynamic,
and Volkswagen is tired of wasting time and money with Bugatti so its very possible that it will never hit the streets.
so THATs what the veyron is...interesting
The horsepower wars have manufacturers dosing huge portions of juice into their machines, only to turn around and put all kinds of electronic devices to make these cars controllable. Bugatti, wanting to live up to their revered name and be the first to produce more than 1000 hp, are now suffering from a classic case of, biting off more than you can chew.
