S7 Air Channels
Hey I've read that the Saleen S7 has two space hogging air channels at the front. So I was wondering does anybody have any more info about them? Like do they act as front diffusers?
Also pics of the S7's underbody would be really nice. (Preferably of those air channels mentioned above)
I looked but didn't find anything useful.

Found one pic that might be helpful

The two outer intakes cool the brakes and in the centre I see two radiators. If things havn't been relocated from the street car I would expect it to be radiators. Beneath the radiator ducting (underbody) there apear to be a diffuser element escaping behind the front tires under the doors.

When walking thru scrutineering at Le Mans this last June 2008, I was fortunate to view the underside of the Saleen S7. It was as flat as the road, with pretty small cutouts for the front suspension, which I think feed the behind front wheel channels... also there was the usual[GT1] rear axle to bumper defuser. When I read the S7 sales data they indicated that the street version was less restricted by sanctioning body rules.

Huh, while I was browsing for pictures of the underside, i came across an interesting concept car: Ronn Scorpion Hydrogen Powered Supercar

It is a front diffuser like the one used by cars like the Toyota GT-One where the undertray at the front sweeps up?

Like that
OR
Is it like the Mercedes CLR where its just cut-out behind the front wheels?

nah... the Saleen S7's underside is completely flat except for the backside which has the diffusers and a little on the front which has the front diffusers...

I think this video might be helpful to you...

YES! Thats it!
Sorry got abit excited. Thanks man.
I was looking for that bit of info for such awhile.
Don't be sorry its more than good. The pic serves its purpose. Mind if I save it?
I used to get confused because I read that the S7 has space hogging air channels at the front and then I looked at some models of the S7 and they had something like air channels at the front of the underbody, too
So since I couldn't find any decent pics of the real car's underbody to confirm the facts; it seemed like yea may be the S7 does have something like a LeMans prototype front diffuser. How else could it make such huge downforce?
But now it its clear, the S7's underbody is flat w/rear diffusers afterall!

If you watch the video they guys from Saleen quite clearly say it has a front diffuser.
Also looking closer at the screen cap you can see the shaping around the front wheels, and with the very basic CAD program they where running I'm sure there is much more detail there than it appears.

I was asking because like of copyright issues.
But anyways yea he does say there is a front diffuser, but its not a front diffuser like the LMP cars.
It doesn't sweep up or anything its just an opening behind the front wheels.

I'm not sure what you mean. It certainly sweeps up but its not full width

Look at the GT-One's front diffuser.
It sweeps up in between the front wheels and sends the air around the sides of the car.
In the S7 the front underbody does sweep up slightly infront of the front wheels, but it doesn't sweep up in between the front wheels.
In the S7 its just the air from the front wheel well exiting through the opening behind the front wheels.
Its not like the GT-One where the air gets picked up from under the car and then thrown around the sides of the car.
Know what I mean now?

GT-One does not have to package the radiator at the nose like the S7....since it does not have to have a cabin for 2(thus not have the space for sidepod mounted rads)....having the radiator upfront will mean some compromises.....
