...the #3 car just crashed (I suppose you could say it as because it was being pushed hard but I doubt it) and the #2 car I don't know what happened as I was asleep. Care to tell me please?
Some idiot in the pit crew didn't fully attach the wheel while the car while the jacks were activated, so the car went down with the unattached wheel, damaging the wheel hub. No one notices this until Capello loses a wheel and goes off in a spectacular manner.

Maybe they should declare Peugeot winners, since they were so much better than Audi...
Except for doing the most laps, but who cares about that isignificant detail.

I agree. Im also will to bet that Audi would've had a 1-2 if not for the unfortuanate wheel problem...

1-2-3

Possibly...

There's no need to over do it, though.
(Can't believe I'm defending Audi... :()

1-2-3 if they didn't crash early on and the wheel nut stayed on. Hell, even if the other Peugeot was in the race, it may have been an Audi 1-2-3.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that. Even with the three Audis in the race many things could've happened.

very informed again. Audi has categorically denied this version of the story....but has not come up with another explanation so far.

I'm sure you understand the difference between the terms Winner and Moral Winner.
It's amazing how ill-informed people are. Don't you read our reports on the Le Mans Series? Winning at Le Mans first time out is virtually impossible, especially with these highly complex racing cars. How people got the idea that Peugeot were favourites is what I don't get.

I know the difference. But you're insisting about it in such a way that leads me to believe that you think Peugeot was so much better than Audi, and that Audi's victory was totally unfair and undeserved. I didn't expect Peugeot to win, altough I wanted them to, but Audi just did better, no matter the difference in budgets, in time spent racing and testing, in the number of cars entered or in the driver line ups. Audi won, and everything else are details which in truth are not that important.
It's like the 1969 Le Mans 24h. Yes, the difference between the winning car and the second placed Porsche 908 was the smallest ever (about 120 metres) and yes Porsche came tantalaisingly close to their first overall win. But that race is remembered as the last win for the GT40 and the first for Jacky Ickx, not the race that Porsche nearly won in a car that had a 1700cc smaller engine than the Ford. And it was a lot closer than this year's race.

In short, the performance of Peugeot was above expectations, that of Audi below....

Yes, that's very nice for Peugeot. But because Audi won it's a bit irrelevant in my opinion.

Peugeot does not care too much about your opinion....

No. But Audi can advertise they won the 2007 24h Le Mans, while Peugeot can't. I think they might be slitghly interested about that.
