sounds fine :) iirc if he wants to modify it though someone told me the ecu on the pre-98 models is easier to reprogram?? can't remember precisely :o
I think TBH the main thing he'll want to do is bring the interior (dash mainly) into the 21st century. It's so cluttered and untidy!
-
GAH! theres nothing wrong with the inside at all! its like being in a cockpit rather then a drivers seat!
Tell him to get an Emanage, T77, fmic and exhaust and a boost controller. 500+rwhp easy! :D

supra rz only tops 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. as well for the non turbo one im guess late 6's and early 7's? the supra is an awesome car btw. it responds very well to mods and like someone said it can make 500hp easy. but if i wanted a crazy track car with better balance it would be an nsx. supra's to me are large whales with crazy horsepower and torque that aren't great at handling but r ok.

i'm fairly sure the supra's can do 5 to 5.2 seconds to 60? agree with the rest of your post though
Thanks guys, but what's the difference between the Jap/US/UK models? As I've already mentioned, I've heard that the UK-spec is the "one to have", with 330 ponies and a different bonnet as standard...anything else that marks it out?
Clive- the differences are small but noticeable. You've already mentioned the bonnet vent, but remember that those in the know will have already changed the bonnet for a UK one, changed the rear bumper so it fits UK numberplates (possibly the front one too), and already uprated the engine to make it the same as/well above UK spec. The chances on finding an unmodded one are hugely slim, they were quite a rare car anyway.
Here's a really nice one I found on PistonHeads... Badass Jap-spec twin-turbo Supra

Here's another- the UK-spec 6-speeders seem to be rare AND expensive... :(

That would be ideal...and I think he'd be willing to pay that much, when he's a few years' older and can get insured on it.

And this last one isn't actually that modified.
The previous Mk3s (JZA70) had the IJZ twin turbo or the earlier MK3s had a single turbo engine (the name eludes me atm)
All Toyota Models Numbers Have The Engine Code In It
Eg. (JZ)A70 Has A 1(JZ)-GTE
Earlier Model MK3s (A70s) Are
GA70 - 2L Inline 6 24V (NA 1G-GE) or (TwinTurbo 1G-GTE)
MA70 - 3L Inline 6 24V (NA 7M-GE) or (SingleTurbo 7M-GTE)
And this last one isn't actually that modified.
Precisely. The only modifications are sensible ones. It's a shame that most of these cars are lost to ricers.

If your friend's willing to pay, he can import one from Japan.
