thats not what he means by "get"
Yes, it will most likely be conservative, but Holden can't risk a wild, outlandish design. The big sedan is in a bad spot at the moment, and Holden bringing out a design that is way out there is too much of a gamble. That can't place their sales in danger. The Falcon design is not out there and is rather conservative, and despite this, is a very good looking car. Holden needs to get its new platform out into the market place with as little risk as possible and, as fpv pointed out, without alienating the older VZ design on the wagon/ute. With the wagon/ute i think Holden has done a good thing in building them with IRS system, not matter how old it is, while Ford didn't. Even though the live rear end is better for load carrying, Holden can push the fact that their cars have 'better' suspension than the Ford's as a selling point
I was thinking they were going conservative to help it sell in other markets...
When you see the VE exec you can see they are trying to disguise it as a Astra.
BA Lights?
Audi Glass?
Looks more like a Falcon? Looks more like a torana SSX. When it's ready we can all judge it fully. See what it has in common with others.
I remember some first comments when the VY was first released, So many said that is Holden's AU, Time showed it wasn't.
But i think of fuel economy.
The VT with VS engine was alright on Fuel, It got better by the VY it might even have been the best for fuel economy in a large 6, It could get easy under 7L per 100 on highway travels.
The Alloytech engine wont be worse on fuel as the VT wasn't over the VS and the VT was over 200-300kg heavier,
That was the 6lt they were talking about not the alloytech engine on fuel economy.
Why stop now:p you didnt hold back in the first Quote lol:D
lol im still having that afte school effect where i have a tendency to do a conclusion to long paragraphs, ala essay style, bad habit really. ;)

I miss them Essays:D
If you cant see audi in the statesman then consult your optometrist:D:D:D
The lights have merged into BA/F falcon..more rounded...if anything they look like tezza lights...shapewise.
I agree when its ready for show and tell we can judge it...but Id say thats the final design.
Ive never seen a 5100mm long Audi before:D
albeit, very conservative, but the new tranny was a real selling and marketing treasure box, look at all the reviews in motor and wheels, the tranny is praised from start to end, and the clubsport has been dethroned (again) as best muscle car in Australia, by, again, a 6 cylinder.

i pray to the big guy up there that what u said just then was joke!! essays almost made me rip my lush hair out!
True but it will never be outsold ever and that is fact.
But is it bad to HSV that a 6 does them or is it worse to FPV that a 6 does the whole range?

great point, FPV don't want a 6 to out do the big 8 brother that they label as their flagship model.
I await the day the Falcon consitently outsells the Commodore and i have subtle confidence that they may do so in the coming decade.

In all honesty i don't think they ever will, But i do believe things with Toyota will make life harder for both the Aussies as Toyota will dominate the world soon.
And maybe the only place to fight them and win is right here? Maybe a Tag team:D
i'd like to see that, perhaps a falcodore? it would be interesting! street machine had a few concepts in the desingers pages at the back, they looked great.
It's been coming up more since GM and FoMoCo have been in a pops in N/A. We might see something down the track or just a share of things maybe?
