Actually, doesn't a modern Mustang and a 60's Cobra have about the same suspension?

haha fair call ferrer. at the end of the day, one is ostensibly a sports car, and the other is a muscle car, so.. whichever class you prefer.
Cobra by a long shot. With one sole exception, every Shelby Mustang owner I've met is a real dick.
Cobra ftw. We have a couple of the early ones in the shop right now, and yes they are real.
Although old vote, I still voted for the Cobra. I'd even take a replica over an S197 GT500.

You must have met the idiots then.
This is my buddy's 401K:

Rasmus, dig the signature.
Shame your buddy got a Shelby the year they started looking like ass. ;)

Agreed -- to a degree. Even though the '69 Shelby grew quite a bit, the overall car doesn't look all bad when you get a chance to walk around it some. I used to think the nose was dis-proportionally big, but the lines aren't all bad. I guess this photo best illustrates it.
I still remember about a month ago when we went the Auto Retro Motorshow and there was a stand which had a 67 or 68 Mustang next to other sportscars. Despite being relatively small by US standards the Mustang looked massive and like an aircraft carrier there.
Gotta go with the Cobra, probably a Factory Five kit :D. Much cooler car than any of this automotive swill made today.

Lengthwise, the '67-'68 models are about the same as an Accord or Camry.

And those cars by European standards are quite massive. Even our Mondeo is. But if you then put the 'Stang next to a, say, TR3 then the Ford looks like an aircraft carrier...

so true.
Exactly. Just threw that in to give some scale :)

To be fair though a TR3 makes the current Miata look big.
A GT500 is just a tarted up Mustang, whereas a Cobra is a tarted up AC.
I'll take the Cobra... make it a 289. ;)
