An old thread, but no reason for a new one.
The Panamera has leaked.
2 models to start, an S and a Turbo both driven by a 4.8L V8, the former with 400 hp, the latter with 500 hp. A base model with a 3.6L V(R?)6 and hybrid electric are in the cards.
Porsche plans on selling 20,000 a year - 4,000 a year being the Turbo.
From the side, this is terrible, absolutely terrible. The rear lights are ugly too - the front has some good some bad. This car had such potential and falls so short of what it could have been. Why is it like a sedan-hatchback?
-
The front looks pretty bitchin to me, but the back end is horrible.

So Porsche could yammer on about its 911 roots.
-
This shouldn't surprise anyone.
-
I wonder if it will drive well. I also wonder if they will make a neo-928.
-
It's alright.
I quite like the design, until you get to the back, where it just doesn't fit at all...
-
I don't know why I was still hoping in some changes of the last moment. didn't Porsche have access to interweb, or never talked to someone who told them "this car is oing to be fugly"?! no wait, this is the same company of the Cayenne, no problem so, it's all ordinary now.
goodbye Porsche, if you change your mind, call me.

The auto design debacle of the century IMO.
-
They should have gone with a regular boot, rather than a hatch.
Then the rear lines would flow better.

considering cars exists since about a century, that's a sort of an exaggeration. ugly it's still ugly, that's for sure.
considering the hype surrounding it, it's not even enough controversy, or special. it's just that today everything is going to be seen as epic and so on, and in the same way that exact thing is going to be forgotten after a couple of years. consumerism of the highest rank I suppose, disregarding of what that thing is, being a car, a war, or a news.
the only fact that make us talk about this car is that's is Porsche's first sedan. but it seems that in the last years Porsche doesn't care at all if it should or not doing something regarding its image, its heritage, it just does whatever it wants.
besides being ugly, imo, this car has just one peculiarity, and that's the rear part. but nothing really special.

It's bleh. I figure this thing will be REALLY big.

IIRC 4930/1920/1420mm, wheelbase 2920mm.
And yes it's seriously ugly.

looking at the thumbnail of the third pic in kitdy's post, it looks like a corvette haha.
not actually going to open the pic as that's probably as good as it gets
-
It's better detailed than I expected.
But no amount of good detail work can excuse the fact the proportions, shapes & overall effect is one of complete horror.
The rear end is resolved in a completely unsatisfactory manner.
-
I like it a lot actually. It's better than another SUV to slot under the Cayenne.
Any word on pricing?
