2hr drive
What usually takes 45 minutes became 2hrs for my wife this morning... A guy driving an F-150 towing a boat lost control after another driver cut in front of him, and ended up tossing his boat from the south bound of I-95 highway to the north bound. Pretty crazy, luckily it happened at 7am when not that many drivers are heading to work, otherwise it could have been much worse.
Three lanes were closed for about 3hrs, it generated about 15 miles of traffic.
2 people injured, nothing critical.
I'd say this boat is about 30ft - 35ft long.

Boat quite a bit larger than a F-150 causes swerving fail.
-
WTF ! Do they not have towing limits ?
Or do F-150 owners beleive that space warps around them ??

Not only that, but WTF was he doing driving in the fast lane? An F-150 pulling that massive boat should have been on the right (slow) lane going at 50-60mph... and that still wouldn't be safe.
-
Some people have never been properly taught, or taught at all how to drive on the highway in cars...much less towing.
-
Why did it take 3 hours to remove that from the highway? That´s nuts!!!
-
Trucks and trailers shouldn't be in the fast lane, but they always are and I feel as if cops don't pay attention to that enough.
Sucks to be the commuter.

I95 in florida is DEAD STRAIGHT. such a boring road. Shouldn't have been in the fast lane and an F150 can be equipped to tow a boat that big. My uncle in Florida has a 26 foot fishing boat and he tows it with a GMC Yukon Denali XL. It pulls it along without a problem.
Now they're coming out w/ tow sway control and all that stuff. Good luck

Reminds me of Bad Boys II

friend of our family used to tow a horse carriage with a a MB C klasse, which was doing it pretty much finely. Until something went wrong and the carriage overtook the car. Horse was dead.
Now he bought a Touareg. Stupid car, but it's probably a better choice for the task.

That looks to be a 32 footer, which is about the limit for a boat you can tow in most states. Anything bigger and you need a C class truck, One step bellow a tractor trailer or 18 wheeler. Here's a story I heard, might be an urban legend, a guy has a row boat tied on top of his station wagon, he was travelling on some two lane black top when a deer jump out from the side of the road and he slammed on his brake. The car screech to a halt but the boat kept on going and killed the deer. I heard that as far back as the '70s

"equiped to tow" is one thing coolie, I was more wondering on the legal weight limits.
and the requirement to fit anti-sway linkages --- never mind the COMMON SENSE of doing so with somethign that can catch wind that easily !!
Towed horses for years and only once was it a "close thing" with an Espace Quadra and a Matra chassis doing 90mph on a French motorway.... Forgot how light the Espace was relative to it's capability and got a fantastic weave on downhill for a mile :)

I know my uncles boat, 26 foot fishing boat comes in at 6-7000 lbs.
some pickups w/ 5th wheels can tow up 20,000lbs.
an 18 wheeler has a limit of something like 70,000lbs
-
ah, good point, I wasn't thinking the "J" I think it's called hook system ( is that what you mean by 5th wheel ? ) you guys have.
We dont do that over here - mainly as nobody really drives pick ups.
So for us tow hooks are way behind the rear wheels and much lower weight limits and larger influence on the towing vehicle than a system where the hitch is in front of the rear wheels.

eu acho que a velocidae ficou melhor no mega drive do que no super nintendo.
