Vintage Tires
After purchasing tires for the Subaru yesterday, I decided to take a look if tires were still available for the 1983 Accord.
I was disheartened to find that they weren't (not really- there were 2 from off brand tires, but who wants those?).
I knew it was going to happen some day, they're 13 inch tires. Most brake rotors are larger than the wheels on that car. :D
But how do you guys get small or strangely sized tires for cars?

You could grow a rubber tree in your garden to start with, then see where that takes you.
-
I don't know, I went on to TireRack and found 2 tires (However, that's only if it's an LX, I see the DX's are narrower and they don't have any for that). They're both all seasons, one by Kumho and one by Sumitomo. Sumitomo may still be considered "off brand" but I have a buddy with a set on his '92 Accord that he his happy with.
If all else fails, go to a junkyard and look for some that aren't worn or dry rotted to all hell.;)

You buy 14" wheels. Problem solved.

Toyo and Sumitomo both make very good tires in 13" but they aren't cheap. Either RA1s for street or RA888 for track,
the largest section size you could get is 185/60/13. About $165. Otherwise, it's Nankang 155 or 165s at around $55 each.

there are places you can get that kind of rubber.
if you can get vintage white walls and such you can get tires for it, just gotta look. google some sites and see waht you get!
-
13s are common in UK and especially in race patterns :)
Can likely get you a ton of part-worn slicks even !!!
Shame about the shipping :(
If expensive then it might be worth looking at shipping from overseas ????

I don't need tires now, but I was just curious. I've never heard of Nankang or Sumitomos, so I didn't know what to expect from them.

True... but I was hoping Tire Rack would still carry it. :D

I don't need racing slicks, not on an old Accord. :D

for the LOLZ :)

what width are the wheels? no problems finding 165"s for that size.
i had the option of 16x10"s recently but ended up staying with 17"s (soo much more options)

Stock 13 X 5 1/2 wheels on an '83 Accord mean basic tires... Toyo or Sumitomo are probably the easiest to get and aren't as noisy as the Nankangs. I think Vredstein makes 13" as well, I have the Classics on my bus and the '67 911 and love them. Also very reasonably priced.

never heard of SUMITOMO???
