My BMW has 300Nm. A fine car and you can have a good time in the twsities.
The Mini had 220Nm. An absolute hoot to drive.
Torque alone means nothing.
My thoughs also, torque alone is a truck. I was just showing Kitdy that ppl that buy diesels also do it for "sport" reasons.
there is a thread on this forum about torque and power (have to look it up), our (ex) member Hightower had very pronounced views about the uselessness of torque as a means to express the performance potential of a car.
I don't always agree with the way he presents his view, but for the most part he was correct in that torque by itself is useless as measure of vehicle performance, specifically acceleration and speed.
To measure these quantities using torque you also need to know what speed (i.e. RPM, gearing, tire size, etc) the torque is generated at. Since, it can be cumbersome to try to deal with multiple parameter simultaneously someone one came up with a way to combine all these parameters into one, and it was called it...

power doesn't include info on tires, gear, weight, aero...
all those are just numbers. all.

I was having an argument with Cameron and decided to ask the UCP community what was their opinions. Either horsepower or torque.
It's by no means a "gay" thread as you putted in nicely on MSN.

And why not a good dose of both?
And why not a good dose of both?
Cause it's a fiset thread? Duh.
Look at the second post, confirmed lame.
And why not a good dose of both?
Because this was an argument with Cameron. I couldn't let him win.
In reality I'm impartial to both, but don't tell him.

To be brutally honest a Fiat Panda 1.1 can be more enjoyable than a Bentely Brooklands in the right conditions.
