(This start with a LOL)
Before DesmoRob's A.D.D. kicks in, let me put it in plain english:
I meant FORD GT40 in my previous post, not FORD GT.
The latter is just a V8 mid engined Ferrari contender. No super car there.
Screw the names.
If the Miura is a supercar, what's a Ford GT40 then?
A racing car with number plates. The Miura a production road car.
I wouldn't cite it as the only criteria, but I think it plays an important part. Maybe we need to invent new terms: a 458 or Gallardo or 300SL is a 'super car' while an Enzo or a McLaren F1 is a 'hyper car'.
Disagree and agree with wwgkd and Kitdy (except in the Corvette thing).
The Merc is a supercar because like the Miura (and many others) it was the pinnacle of its brand and its time as well. I mean where else would you find a car with direct fuel injection, gullwing doors and performance and handling (literally) to die for in 1954?
The absolute apex of the vortex of (joint?) engineering?
Er...yes :D
In my personal opinion, there should be only one one hypercar at a time which is the absolute apex of what's technically possible at the moment. The McLaren F1 was such a car, and the Veyron SS is it now. Or to put it simple: hypercars are cars that make people say "WTF???" when they are presented.
Maybe there should, but it would never happen in the competitive world we live in. Even if there was no competition, technology itself doesn't just become static. It keeps moving forward and improving on a constant basis. That's why we're seeing fastest car after fastest car being pumped out quicker than silicone in Hollywood.
Lexus LFA
McLaren F1 is my dream car
The Aston Martin One-77 is an extremely beautiful car from both inside and outside. Every eye is impatiently waiting for the arrival of this car. The vehicles produced by Aston Martin are always a pleasure to watch and drive.
I Just crazy about Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera
Porsche Carrera GT Just love a porsche.
One of my favorite super sports car is the lamborghini aventador. It's like a beast!!
Too late to vote, but all the cars here would get my vote. Just upset the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is not on the list.
Fiat 130 3200 Coupe Pininfarina!
There was and is no nicer cooler styling around.
This car is the most underrated Supercar of the 70s.

The ultra cool Fiat 130 3200 Coupe Pininfarina
Lambo Miura, would have been my choice...but outa that list...
McLaren F1. The supercar that defined my generation! The Ford GT may not be quite in the same league, but has an irresistable cool factor for me, and the 458 ain't a bad looking piece of kit either, but it's a more gentlemanly piece of machinery. It appeals to me a lot but maybe lacks that x-factor to make it a supercar icon.
