McLaren's helping Dodge?
Apparently the Diamondback project isn't dead.

This is one group of prototypes that all our sources are stumped on. And there wasn't just one powertrain prototype here - there were at least four of these red-hot Vipers with a vinyl-covered camouflage hood and various wires and test gauges - but nothing could hide the huge vents on the hood, and we managed to get excellent views.
Sources are telling us NOT to expect a 2007 Viper - that model-year will be "skipped" and the '08 models will make an early appearance within the first quarter of 2007. And we do know that Dodge wants to expand the horsepower in the Vipers, but the 'what' and 'how' are currently just rumours. One rumour is that McLaren is involved with the Viper project and is tweaking a V10 to put out nearly 650-horsepower!

650 horses?! Dodge appears to be serious now that Chevrolet will be bringing out the C6 Stingray.
Now, where is Ford going to fall into this?
-
Well guess who owns Dodge? Daimler Chrysler (Mercedes sorta) and guess who they're partners with? Mclaren. So its not THAT surprising when you think of it.

I guess Ford is gonna have to add some HP to the GT.
-
And this will leave the SLR where exactly?

Probably not since the GT is no longer in production.
Rumor has been for a while that either the Cobra or the GR-1 will become a production model.

Wow, I didn't know the GT went out of production. That's what happens when you stay away from UCP so long.

Shouldn't be affected as long as Mercedes keep having McLaren build it in their facilities.
-
If this is true, the gloating of the Z06 owners was short lived, but will be back.

where it always was, in the trash :)

That's a wee bit harsh. :)
I guess the SLR is due for a facelift of some kind, the other 'mass-produced' (ie. not limited edition) hypercars have all had updeates since the SLR came out - Zonda F, CCX and LP640 - so hopefully we'll see a McLaren Mercedes AMG SLR rather than a Mercedes AMG SLR

Wrong McLaren.
McLaren Automotive builds the SLR at the McLaren Group's Paragon Technology Centre in Woking in England.
McLaren Performance Technologies will be tweaking the Dodge Viper, and they are based in Michigan in the United States.
They aren't the same company, but they were both originally involved with the same Bruce McLaren and his racing team, so they both have the "right" to use the name McLaren.
-
Is McLaren Performance Technologies the same who worked on Buick's GNX?

But save the engine then... ;)

I thought Ford wasn't going to produce the Cobra or GR-1 whatever you call it thingy. They later announced it was a concept only thing.

Damn beat me to it..
Is that hood got a cover on it? because it looks like crap!
Why don't they bring the ME 4-12 out of the garbage, that things stats said it could posbably be the worlds fastest produstion car.
