if i am correct, 67 shelbys are the only year fitted with Shelby's own 427 side oiler, 68 onwards all used FE big blocks, they do sound different. the eleanor in the movie sound more like a cobra than a ford.
yes you are correct but very few of the cars ever came equiped with the 427. most 500's came with fords 428 cobra jet. i forget where i heard the thing about the vette being used for the sounds in the movie but its very possible your correct. i'd prob put more money on what your saying anyways :). i guess its not that big of a deal. so are you gonna get us a sound clip of your car or what :P

Yes, only 100 something 67 GT500 were built, and i think only the first handfull of cars that had the side oiler in it. which is why there is a big flutruated priced for the GT500 these days. personally, i don't see the big deal. but others does i guess.
with the sound, i should, the car has been sitting in the work shop for some oil leak for a while now. i'll post it when the car is back.
my dads friend has a 427 side oiler motor for sale. i was thinkin about buyin it for a while to put in maybe a fox body mustang or somethin and then my dad was thinkin about puttin it into the shelby so we could keep somethin from happening to the original motor but now i dont think im going to build a project car and i doubt we'll put it in the shelby either. so if you know anybody whos interested...lemme know
