Bring back F1!
I still think the sport is OK it is fast. It makes it even more exciting when there is an Australian driving for a top team but I must say I get alot more excited when WRC is on

I assume because I referred to endurance racing which I did not mean to imply that that type racing is not real racing.

Because Villeneuve is a useless tit who would never have even gotten into F1 without the name of his father.

"why in name of God did they hire that w****r Jacques F*****g Villeneuve? I mean, he's the kind of man that even Robbie Williams would describe as really annoying. Still, the first race is in Australia so there's always the distant hope that a mongoose bites him in the face."

lol depends if its migrating or not :P

Villeneuve is more interested in his money and his monte carlo homes than concentrating on work, he just wants a seat in an f1 car to hold up his ego. Put it this way, he's the george best of F1, was once a champion, but blew it and still annoys the f*ck out of everyone.

Pretty much ALL the passing in Le Mans race is down to pit stop strategies, or fuel preservation or tyre wear !!!!!!

THAT was why I asked, given you're reason for disliking F1

But F1 is supposed to be about the fastest cars with the best drivers going as hard as they can to win. Not sitting back pacing themselves. Endurance racing is fun to watch, but the strategy doesn't (or shouldn't) fit a 2 hour sprint.

The quotation marks are a good indicator that I was quoting someone else.

I'm still living in hope of the announcement that Villeneuve will be missing the rest of the season due to facial injuries sustained at the mercy of a Mongoose though.

But F1 always WAS about pacing.

In the days before rev limiters in the ECUs a driver had to watch how close he got to the blowing the engine up.

Before modern materials a driver had to watch ho much they heated up the discs and drive accordingly - or end up driving the last 1/3 with nearly no brakes if they glazed !!

Fuel consumption, there was the middle period with the turbos when the DRIVER adjusted the mixture as they raced, richer to get the extra power to overtake and then lean it out to last to the end of the race.

Tyres had to be watched and nursed.

It's wrong to think today is any different than before. (IMHO)
Just as has happened before there is a team in ascendancy which has made all the rest look poor

Personally it's down to the tracks and the speed that is causing our problems in seeing "racing" as opposed to very fast driving. BUT would you want to watch cars 30mph slower than now ??
