Very interesting, what is historic racing like over there? Looks like a strange mixtures of Fiats and Peugeots..any other classes? Torinos?

That race was an historic Fiat-Peugeot challenge. In the 70´s here, in Argentina, existed a category called "Turismo nacional" (National tourism), where Semi-Standard Fiat and Peugeot race togheter.
And yes. Our Torino´s run in many historic races (For those who want to know what car is an Argentinian Torino, I said that is similar to your Rambler American, but modified by Pinninfarina...). You can see more Torinos in: http://www.torosite.com.ar
Here you can see some photos of Torinos.

could it be an early Seat production model?

I there and welcome to UCP.
Despite what they claim on that text, I don't believe those arches are original. Judging from other cars for sale on that webpage, I doubt that they are trustable. My guess it's that it's just a modified 600.

I agree also, the poster has suggested that its probably a Rally Fiat 600 that was rare. The poster claims because of the second set of headlights and the side ventilation slots in the rear, it has to be a special model. The bumper in the rear is just cut. Most of the other posters beleive that its just a modified version.

I wouldn't trust any car coming from Portugal

The last post from the thread starter suggested that it was a rally version, thats when I thought I'd post it here to get some answers from very knowledgeable people instead. Here's the full thread

Neither would I. That's why I bought a US Mazda.

I can't qualify myself as very knowledgeable but I would bet that car is just a vandalised 600.

I think the same. Is only a (very bad) modified Fiat 600....

Well that seems to be the consensus, but the poster beleives otherwise.
