Unfortunately all those events resulted in me changing channel halfway through every race in boredom.

I hate NASCAR, and I watched every Grand Prix faithfully since 2002. It's just this year that sucks.

Button finished 11th? I thought he was a DNF.

These state that any driver who completed at least 90 per cent of the race distance will be classified, whether or not he was running when the winner took the chequered flag.

If a race is stopped before the full distance and a result is declared, the classification will reflect the race order at the end of the lap two laps prior to that on which the race was stopped (see ‘Suspending and resuming a race’). For example, if a race is stopped on lap 60, the classification will be as it was at the end of lap 58.

FIA investigating dangerous driving by Hamilton behind the safety car.

Apparently Vettel was so surprised by an unexpected move from Hamilton that he hit Webber, causing the retirement for both of them.......

Another move to give Raikonnen the world championship, isn't it Coventry?

I can't see that Hamilton does anything "dangerous" - he pulls smoothly to the right of the circuit alongside the safety car, then slows gently on the same line - no sudden movements or anything unpredictable.

I also think it is odd that the stewards have waited four days to investigate.
What has changed in four days? If it is dangerous now it was dangerous when it happened and should have been investigated when it happened.

The only fault that can be found in the clip is that Hamilton might not be within 5 car lengths of the safety car, but in this respect the clip is far from conclusive.

Hamilton makes no sudden, unpredictable or dangerous moves, and despite what Webber and Vettel say about a "rhythm" behind the safety car, there aren't any guidelines stating that a driver should drive in a particular manner.

Franz Tost says he brought the clip to the FIA's attention to have Vettel's penalty rescinded, not to punish Hamilton, but by not looking where he was going Vettel is the one who has acted dangerously - distraction or not, you can't just look over your shoulder and assume you won't drive into anything in the meantime.

The FIA really should sort itself out - all of the cars have provision for cameras, so why don't they actually put cameras on all the cars? They would then have a record of what each car is doing, rather than having to use a clip found on youtube as "evidence" in an investigation that may have major implications for the championship result.

I'm not really sure that I have an opinion either way, but I'd say the video is certainly worth watching before forming an opinion.

YouTube - Hamilton GP-FUJI Safetycar crash

I have to confess, as described, I just assumed that Vettel was just being a numpty. Not so sure now.

Sorry for the über late reply. I'm not sure it's really worth it to reply, but I hate unanswered questions

As I told dydzi, I watched every GP since 2002.

Well, looking back at the season I realize it was rather interesting. I think why I said it was boring and uninteresting is because everything was boring and uninteresting to me, because I was depressive. Consider my comment about the season being boring untrue. I will watch the Brazilian GP with great interest.
