Iwas at the race from 1st practice on the sunny Friday through soggy wet Saturday where I sat in the rain until they told us at 3pm that it wasn't safe to race (fair enough) and into drizzly Sunday, Bright was the man to beat through prety much every session, Im a big fan of Murph but I have to say, with a dry(ing) track noone was realy in the same class as Brighty on that particular weekend, ive been to all the Supercar races at Puke and that was one thing.. . .. . . . . .. . . . . THE COLDEST

Good to see a new member. Glad you enjoyed the Pukekohe round - even if it was a little cold.
Noted your sig on another thread where you asked if anyone will ever do a lap of Bathurst as amazing as Murph's 2003 pole lap. Well I'm going to nominate two other Bathurst top ten pole laps which were both just as good in their own right. Kevin Bartlett in the Chevrolet Camaro in the wet taking pole for the 1981 Bathurst 1000. Rickard Rydell in the Volvo S40 going around inch perfect to take pole for the 1998 Bathurst 1000. These two I just nominated were as good as Murph's lap though for absolute perfection and mastery of the circuit, if not in terms of the lap time. Neither Bartlett or Rydell are/were showmen like Murph though - that helped make Murph's lap extra special. |

Got supercar, not the cheap rice burner knock offs
We need more american detroit muscle V8s, but with a super car tint. Like mixture of a Hemi Cuda, Camaro Z28, Mustang, GT350, GT500, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Diablo, and Ford GT40.
That would be FREAKIN GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Lambo, Ford GT40, Ferrari Enzo can race under FIA GT or possibily Australian Nations Cup rules. They ARE NOT touring cars. The older muscle cars have their own catagory as well (historic sedan racing in Australia). V8 Supercars is for current shape 4 door sedans fitted with OHV V8 engines. Currently only Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore are eligible. I'm open to the idea of other 4 door familysedans (Aussie made Camry & Magna, possibily o/seas made cars such BMW 5-series etc as long as sold in Australia) being allowed to race. But not 2 door 1960s muscle cars. Or sports cars. Or turbos. |

You know alot more about Bathurst than me thats forsure, ive only realy got into motorsport in the past three or four years, but that Murph lap was good for me, probably because im a Kiwi and I had just met Murph a few months earlyer.
It's a shame he isn't pushing for the NZ round to stay at Pukekohe as he is by far the most high profile and influential Supercar driver we have, well next year wil be the last at Puke and it's going to be sad to see it go, I wanted to be able to go there in 20 years time and say "well ive been here every single year and this is the best yet" but it's not to be. ![]()

well its not as if a NZ round is going for good, both the replacements being talked about are still NZ but i wouldnt be surprised if Murph went for the permanent track option so that other people can reap the benefits year round

I've been following motorsport since I was 10 (back in 1984). Bathurst has been a particular fascination of mine, regardless of whether its being V8 Supercars, 2-litre Supertourers, Group A, Group C Touring Cars in the 1000 or the Nations Cup/FIA GT-N cars in the Bathurst 24 hour. The 1984 Bathurst 1000 when the Marlboro Holden Dealer Team of Peter Brock scored a 1-2 was the first Bathurst I saw (on TV). I've watched every Bathurst since, and seen some highlights of earlier years. I've been up to Bathurst the last two years for the 24 hour race. I will probably make the journey for the 1000 race sometime in the future (got to admit that the excellent TV coverage and reports of certain sub-humans who go there have both helped to keep me in front of the TV for the Bathurst 1000). |
