ALMS: Petit Le Mans (October 4, 2008)
A superb season of endurance racing seems to get a grand finale at Road Atlanta on October 4th. The 1000 mile / 10 hour 'Petit Le Mans' will see the familiar ALMS faces joined by some of the best Europe has to offer. Peugeot will travel to Georgia with two cars to make something of the hugely disappointing season. It is also believed that the Barazi-Epsilon team will bring their LMP2 Zytek. Corsa Motorsport will debut their new P1 Zytek that will most likely race as a hybrid next season. The likeable Hugh Chamberlain will join 'his' Lola that has been bought by the Autocon team to replace their ill-performing and outdated Creation. Penske will field a third Porsche to fight off the ever bigger challenge from the Acura teams in the P2 class. It will take something special to stop the Highcroft team to continue their successful streak.
With two weeks to go, more additions to the entry-list can be expected. Once the final list is ready, I'll add it here.

More P1s than P2s. That must be the first time in quite some time. It's very unfortunate I can not make it out there.

The slower traffic passing is going be wicked.
I hope we don't have to endure as much forced apex passing attempts as we have seen all this ALMS season....it's getting ridiculous. |

My friends and I have begun calling the Ford GT Rs "prototype killers" lets hope they can watch their mirrors in the esses.

The slower GT cars are supposed to stay on the race line, it is up to the LMP cars to find a way AROUND them. This rule is applicable for LMS but is often forgotten by hasty LMP drivers who claim to have the right of way.....

You are right. It just seems that GTs with poor rearward visibility especially the Ford attract more collisions with passing LMPs. Even though the GTs have the rightaway it seems an RSR is much more likely to break line to avoid an accident.

Great call. I keep looking for a shepherd on course as someone is obviously directing the silver Ford to meander as if it was on a cross-country grazing adventure.

They have been testing recently, but opted out of Silverstone to focus fully on the final two ALMS races.
