No French GP in 2009.

The Official Formula 1 Website

They're gonna have to rename the "FIA Formula One World Championship" to "FIA Formula One Rich Arab Countries Championship" if it continues like this...

Does it really matter where the races are held?

There has been a French GP in F1 every year (except 1955) since 1950, and that matters a lot to me. History.

I think it does. What would you say if they'd exclude Monza, Spa and Nurburgring?

Who knows, maybe there'll be chance that Canada could get a last minute reprieve because of this?

Bernie's dream of getting a 20 race calendar seems to be vanishing rather rapidly at the moment...

Latest news about the Canadian GP are as follow: George Gillett (who owns the Montréal Canadiens and co-owns Liverpool F.C.) is willing to invest $10M to save the GP.

Same story with the French GP, financial troubles.

Sarcasm is a fine art. Of course it should matter where the races are held, but the powers that be care little about it. They have bullied the Magny Cours people for so long that they have finally given up. F1 is slipping and fast.

Under normal circumstances, most of these events would probably still have the money to still operate. They may even recieve financial assistance from the commercial rights holder. The FIA will put the teams on a witch hunt to cut costs, but Bernie will still ask for $30-50m a year to hold the rights for each race.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'll be glad when Bernie is dead.

And in 2010, there will be no races at all. Instead everyone will sit around and drink tea.

Meh nothing wrong with tea in a titanium cup, sitting around a lightweight carbon fibre table.

It wasn´t called FIA Formula One European Championship back in the day. Why did no one complain back then?
