F1 Round 14- Spa

Well its time for another Grand Prix weekend. I have been looking forward to this race the whole season, as Spa is one of my favorite tracks to watch races at. Missed it last year and I'm glad they brought it back this year. Anyways after fridays practice sessions, Kimi Raikkonen was fastest and M. Schumacher 3rd fastest about .4 of a second off Raikkonen's time.

Also Ryan Briscoe was involved in a heavy crash during practice and was taken to the hospital, but apparentely he's fine.

Qualifying is now over. Session was wet, then wetter, then dried a little, then got wet again. Jarno Trulli put intermediates on at the right moment and took pole. M. Shumacher second, Alonso third, Coulthard fourth, Fisichella fifth, Barrichello sixth, Webber seventh, Massa eight, Panis ninth, Raikkonen tenth, Montoya eleventh, Button twelfth, Klein thirteenth, Pizzonia fourteenth, Sato fifteenth, Heidfield sixteenth, then Bruni, Baumgartner, Pantano and Zonta.

The grid is a little mixed up. Not often you see the Williams or BARs so low on the grid this year. Should make for a good race. Michael Shumacher will almost certainly be crowned World Champion at Spa though. He only needs to earn two points more than Barrichello this weekend to win the championship.

Raikkonen and Barrichello both were doing very well until they overran the Bus Stop turn at the end of the lap. Also Shumacher was .4 ahead through the first two Intermedients and then lost that time on the last one.

Are you a baseball fan? Or mabey you Don't watch because you know the yankees will win with their stacked team. I watch Formula One because I like to watch it, sure, I know Ferrari will win, but thats my team, and I watch to cheer them on. This will most certainly be a good race, a mixed grid, uncertain weather and a couple teams fighting over second place. Spa is where it's at this year.

Kimi showed skill and really controlled those restarts well to maxmiise te advantage over cool Bridgestones.

A race more worthy of a demolition derby

But MS stamps his name on ANOTHER DWC. Congrats to him and will he do it again next year ??

PS: ITV said Ferrari were talking abotu Kimi as a successor after MS Hope McLaren has a water-tight contract !!!!

Good driving by Kimi Raikkonen, I'm glad to see him win a race after horrible reliability throughout this season. I agree Matra, Kimi did handle the restarts well, and got great jumps on MS. Good job on Coulthard's part too getting back into 7th after that mishap with Klien. Too bad for Zonta with his engine blowing while he was sitting in 4th. Congrats to MS on his 7th World Championship.

I want to see that guy run naked around the track hahahahaha thats what he gets for making a bet like that! Kimi Raikkonnen had an excellent performance as he furthered his lead each lap from Schumacher and Barrichello.

Bridgstone tyres - they take a couple of laps to warm up, the restarts were ideal for Kimi and bad news for MS. Did you see him clearly left-foot braking and pusing the fast-pedal to try to warm things up. He was making the rear snake - not clever with an F1 car

Didn't notice that, but speaking of tires, Michelin was having some problems with failures today. There were reports of blistering throughout the weekend, so it may of been that, or it may have been the abundence of carbon fiber shards on the track.

It was a very eventful race for sure. Especially the wreck on the first lap at the first turn and then the large wreck later on the same lap. Kimi did a great job and deserved the win. Great picture of the wrecked cars Matra.

Wow, Kimi won his first race of the season! Too bad he could'nt have had a good car all season long. I think with a good car he is the only current driver that can challenge MS. There are other good drivers in the field but they are all too inconsistent. I hope Mclaren can win a couple more races before the end of the season and carry some momentum into next year.

theres plenty of other drivers who are consistent but you never see them shine. i mean, both button and alonso are challenging ferrari week in, week out. then theres the likes of webber and fisichella, who regularly pilot their cars in the bottom of the top 10, when their respective teams deserve to be hanging around between 11th and 16th
